The Professional Standards for BC Educators is a set of principles that guide the professional conduct, competence, and ethical responsibilities of educators in British Columbia. They are established by the BC Teachers’ Council and apply to all certified educators, including teachers, administrators, and others working in the BC education system.
The standards help to ensure that there is a consistent standard of quality and professionalism across the province of BC in our educators. They help reassure parents, learners, and the community that their local schools are providing an education consistent with the values of the Ministry of Education and the BC Teachers’ Council. These standards are both the ideals to the which educators aspired and the norms by which they are held.
